Caribbean Vacation Hot Spots: Dominican Republic And Puerto Rico

If you are wondering where the top caribbean destinations are,  here is  the answer Santo Domingo and Puerto Rico.   These two countries topped the charts for tourist arrivals in 2006.

Santo Domingo, also known as,  The Dominican Republic has been transformed into a tourist haven.  According to the World Tourism Organization (WTO),   3.9 million tourists visited the country last year , while 3.8 went to Puerto Rico.

This massive growth is a result of the diversity of offers and to growth in markets such as Canada, the United States, Spain, England,  Italy, and in addition to Belgium.  These were the coutries with the most prominent growth with respect to travelers visiting Santo Domingo.

Of the 19.5 million tourists that visited the Caribbean region in 2006 Santo Domingo and Puerto Rico surely got the lion's share.  So will you follow the yellow brick road to these caribbean hot spots?
