When Was The Last Time You Got Away?
It is important to work hard and build a career, especially in the competitive world we live in nowadays. But what about giving importance to leisure time? To have a more balanced and fulfilling life it is essential to spend time in other activities, such as enjoying a well deserved vacation, with family or friends. The truth is, real success is not only measured by how much we have, but also by the state of our emotional and physical well-being. Taking a “time out” to relax and “enjoy living” is just as important as “earning a living”.
In some countries, it is normal for people to work eight months out of the year and spend the rest of the year either traveling, vacationing, or taking part in activities of enjoyment with friends and family. Unfortunately, that may be completely impossible in corporate America. Unless you work for yourself, you may have to be content with a few weeks off each year.
Despite this apparent disadvantage for the working class, there are many ways and opportunities for the working population to make up for any lack of vacation time. Here are a few ideas:
Weekend getaway vacations! Who said a vacation has to be 3 weeks or longer. Two and three nights getaways can do wonders to rejuvenate body, mind and soul and strengthen families ties at the same time.
Vacation at home! Who said you need to vacation in a foreign country or in another state. You may be amazed that you can enjoy a satisfying vacation at home. Pamper yourself in some quiet and solitude. Do something you enjoy! Even if its just for one day.
Benefit from National Holidays. Consider national holidays as “mandatory” vacations. Plan to go on a picnic, to the beach or somewhere special. Better yet, strategically plan to take a one or two days off before or after a national holiday an extend your “vacation” time even more.
A little vacation time away from the office and stresses of life could work wonders. Be good to yourself. work hard, and then take time to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
