Summer is just around the corner and it's time to start planning a great summer vacation . Maine is a great destination.
Title: Summer vacation in Maine

Summer may seem like a forgotten dream to those of us in the northern part of the USA, but now is the time to start thinking about that summer vacation. In fact, in my biased opinion, you should start thinking about that

The state is vast, as big as all the other New England states combined, and the landscape is equally diverse. You can plan a week on the beach, a month on an island, or an extended backpacking trip in the North Maine woods.
The possibilities are endless when planning a Maine vacation.
For families, there isn't a better state to plan that vacation.
I know all about Disney, but when you are able to sit on the
edge of a dock, watching the sun set over the mountains and just
"be" with your kids, Maine can't be beat. There are thousands of
tidal pools in which to search for star fish and various other
treasures, many miles of sandy beaches to build that sand castle
or bury dad, and countless trails on which to get out and
experience nature. Our times spent at Popham Beach state park
are some of the most pleasurable experiences we've had with our
family. Likewise, are the weekend camping trips, the boat rides
out to an island and the time spent playing games in a cabin on
some northern Maine lake.
If you are of the adventurous spirited types, Maine is the place
to be. There is intense white water for rafting, canoeing or
kayaking. Some of the most spectacular hikes can be found on Mt.
Katahdin in Baxter State Park, and there is always plenty of sea
kayaking to be done along the coast.
If you prefer a quieter more "civilized" vacation, a bed and
breakfast on the coast, coupled with a map and the intentions of
seeing the lighthouses that guard our rocky shores can be a fun
and exciting vacation, without the physical requirements of a
hike up the highest peak in the state.
"What about Golf?" you say. Maine has some of the most spectacular championship caliber golf courses in New England. Sugarloaf is always ranked high in New England, and the brand new course at Sunday River will wow even the most seasoned of golfer. Then there is always the "Pebble Beach of the East" at the Samoset Resort. So as you can tell, we have plenty of quality golf venues at which to test your skills.
There are many more vacations that you can easily plan. How
about a shopping vacation? Freeport is now a destination resort
shopping town. With LL Bean and many famous named outlets, you
could spend a few days here, and then drive up the coast on
Route 1 and explore the many downtown districts along the way.
You could even plan a lobster vacation. Drive into Maine, and
pick a coastal town, and find the local lobster pound. Eating a
Maine lobster at a waterfront lobster pound cannot be beat. The
sailboats cruising by, the sun slowly dropping, and a delectable
lobster tail along with a locally grown ear of corn. You haven't
done Maine until you've done this!
As you can see, there are many choices and opportunities for a
Maine vacation. So start that summer vacation planning now,
oops, I mean that Maine summer vacation!

I want to go to Maine one day just because Stephen King was born there and I love his books. I didn't realise it was a popular vaction place though.
Golf isn't my thing, but I like the sound of kayaking! Next time I'm in the USA I think I will seriously consider some interstate flights..
