Caribbean Close Ups: Anguilla Beaches
Anguilla is not a well known Caribbean island, but it has a lot to offer – it is a beatiful and tranquil island, in stark contrast to some of the busier tourist islands. It makes the perfect getaway spot for everyone from families to couples seeking a quiet place to relax.
Anguilla is also famous for its beautiful, white sandy beaches which are hugely popular among tourists and local inhabitants. Anguilla boasts 33 beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters and deserted sands which add to the tranquility and relaxation of the island.
One of the biggest beaches on the island is Shoal Bay East. It is a popular beach, but still retains a peaceful, serene atmosphere. It has been voted the best beach in the world by a number of tourist magazines, and features a number of beach bars, and perfect, white sands.
Another popular beach is Barnes Bay which is situated on a secluded island which means the beach is virtually always empty. Like Shoal Bay East, this beach has beautifully white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters.
The final beach we will look at today is Sandy Ground, which, just like the other beaches, features white sands and clear waters, however, unlike the other beaches, this one is bustling with activity – it is almost always brimming with people and boats, as it is a popular stopping point for visitors from around the world. This beach is a popular party area, and ideal if you want to let your hair down!
The three beaches mentioned in this close-up are just a small sampling of what the island has to offer. They are naturally beautiful, with white sands, and crystal clear waters, but the island has a lot more to show – there are over 30 beaches on the island, and as you head inland there is even more to see. Anguilla may not be the most famous Caribbean island, but it is certainly worth a visit.

If I were to ever stay at a Caribbean island, I would want to be at one of the smaller, less busy ones. The beach is a place to relax and soak up the sun, wildlife and beautiful view of the ocean. I can't do that if there are huge crowds and a lot of noisy people.
Barnes Bay is exactly what I would go for.
