Golf Vacations Are For Everyone!

The game of golf means different things for different people.  For some, it is a competitive sport – and their goal is to win, or to improve their overall game.  This kind of player wishes to add distance to their drive, reduce the number of strokes their game takes, and even try for a hole in one.  Golf offers lots of performance measurements to suit the competitive frame of mind.

For others, golf is a social game – it offers the chance to play with friends, meet new people, and enjoy the outdoors.  Golf vacations are thus a great excuse to wine and dine at some of the best resorts in the world, and to improve your game while at the same time enjoying a great vacation.   Golf vacations also offers health benefits too– it requires a degree of fitness, and encourages people to do a lot of walking, relaxing body, mind, soul and spirit.

Golfing For Health

One of the most beneficial by-products of going on a  golf vacation is the exercise an individual can achieve.  This exercise is comprised of walking on the golf course from hole to hole, the swinging of the golf clubs and the carrying of the golf clubs.

There are basically two types of overall exercise categories.  Those categories are moderate and vigorous.  Golf can be considered as a moderate type of workout activity.  It is estimated that for every one hour spent playing golf an individual can burn 370 calories.  This estimate is based on that individual being a male, weighing 154 pounds and standing at 5'10" tall.

A Social Game

Going on a golf vacations is a good way to meet new people, and form friendships with those who share a similar hobby.  Often, golfers team up in pairs, or play games of golf in a group of four, giving plenty of opportunity for relaxed social interaction.

This foursome provides an excellent opportunity for individuals to interact with each.  This interaction is usually highlighted through the telling of jokes, the sharing of stories, conducting business, getting to know each other in an informal setting, etc.

All of this is conducted in a non-threatening, but competitive environment.  This type of interaction will prove to be therapeutic as well as an opportunity to unwind and bond with other individuals.  Isn't that what vacations should be all about?

Enjoy Nature and the Outdoors

One often overlooked benefit of playing golf is that it takes you outdoors, where you can enjoy the nature and the scenery.  Walking around the golf course gives you a chance to breathe fresh air and take a moment to appreciate the environment.

In addition golf courses are often quiet, secluded places, giving the golfer a chance to escape from the rush of everyday life, relax, and focus on the simple, but beautiful things around them.  Golf is a great hobby for relaxation, and a good way to take a break from the stresses of day to day life, and the work place.

Taking the time for a golf vacation and enjoying a quiet game of golf is an ideal way to relieve stress, and recharge your batteries – that's my idea of an  ideal holiday!
