Golfing Holidays in Spain

If you are considering a golfing holiday, then look to Spain for some of the most majestic golf courses in the world.  La Manga offers three championship courses, then there is the 'golf coast' in the Costa Del Sol, and the holiday island of Mallorca, which also has some great golf courses.  Spain is a great place for fun, relaxation, and golf.  Are you ready for your golf holiday in spain?

Many may have been hooked on golfing in Spain with the top Spanish pro, Severiano Ballesteros who turned professional at the age of 17 in 1974 and had five victories in 1985. In 1986, he won his fifth World Matchplay in England, one of his sixth European victories that year. He also was the winner of the British Open in 1979, 1984 and 1988 and the Masters in 1980 and 1983.

There are a total of 14 choices of 18 hole golf courses in Mallorca alone.  The courses are a great way to enjoy the magnificent, sun-drenched island, and give you a great view of the ocean too.  Mallorca is warm all year round, and has great weather ideal for golfing.  There is plenty to do on the evenings, with great night life, and plenty of places to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Golfing in Southern Spain

The south east coast of spain offers plenty of opportunities for golfers.  From Malaga to Gibraltar, there are over 40 golf courses around the Costa del Sol, making it a very popular destination with American and British golfers.  Once you are finished playing golf, you can explore the mountain ranges and local villages for added fun.

If you head towards the French – Spanish border, you will find more golfing opportunities in Costa Brava resorts.  The area around Costa Brava is not as commercial as other parts of Spain, and you will find a much more diverse culture here.  The countryside has not been as greatly affected by tourism, and is much more natural.  The golf courses are of the highest quality, and should give you some great playing experiences.

If history is your thing, Costa de la Luz, on the border of Portugal is closely tied to Christopher Columbus.  The area offers great beaches, and is close to some exciting nightlife opportunities, but is itself quiet enough that you can enjoy some peaceful relaxation after your game of golf.
