More Than Just Beaches – Golfing in Grand Cayman
There may not be any golfing available on Little Cayman, or Cayman Brac, but the Grand Cayman golf courses are wonderful for a day’s leisurely golf that has much to offer the golfer. The lovely fairways lined on either side with palm trees make the Grand Cayman golf courses a viable alternative to the more scuba diving facilities.
Great Sea and Caribbean Island Views
Located close to the sea, most of the Grand Cayman golf courses are within easy reach of the Seven Mile Beach. One of the most famous courses, the Grand Cayman Britannia, was designed by the golfing legend Jack Nicklaus. The course is known as the 'Cayman Course', and requires the use of special, slower balls that only travel half the distance of a regular golf ball.
The Cayman course has both a nine-hole regulation par-70 as well as an eighteen hole par-75 course. The course fee for playing here is about sixty dollars, and use of carts is compulsory at the Cayman course which means paying another fifteen to twenty-five dollars more than the normal course fees.
Another well known Grand Cayman golf course is located in Safe Haven. It is an 18 hole course with flowers lining the greens, a pro shop, a club house, and a fine restaurant. This course is very challenging, and requires golfers to take into account the steady breeze flowing across the course. If you are seeking a challenge, then this course is the one for you.
If golfing in the Grand Cayman sounds like something that you would enjoy, then you can rent a villa near to one of the golf courses, and enjoy relaxing in a paradise right next to the course. Grand Cayman offers golfing opportunities for golfers of all ability levels, with gentle courses for beginners, and 9-hole championship golf for those who fancy a challenge. The Grand Cayman is the premier golfing region of the Caribbean.
If you desire some practice at playing golf in windy conditions, then the steady breeze in Grand Cayman will give you all the chance you need. It takes a while to get used to placing your shot, and will require you to think carefully about your game, but the Caribbean is most certainly the nicest place to get that kind of practice!
