Using The Craigslist Hawaii Site

Craigslist is a site known to almost everyone, all over the world.  In case you have escaped it so far, it is a network that connects people to others in their local area and surrounding states – you can use it to keep up to date with current events, read and post classified advertisements or personal ads, and find out about gigs and job advertisements relevant to your area.

The website now offers sites in 450 different cities around the world and although financial information about the nonprofit company is not disclosed anywhere, business experts believe that it is worth at least 10 million USD to date. Over 5 million viewers use Craigslist each month, and although for the most part there are no complaints about the company, it is important that visitors realize that they need to be cautious, especially when applying to jobs that are listed.

Craigslist offers a lot of genuine deals and advertisements, but, as with any site which offers open registrations, there are some people who post fake offers – sometimes just as a joke, but sometimes with the intent of causing harm to those who respond.  Be careful about how much information you give out to people online, until you are certain that what they are offering is genuine.

Craigslist For Hawaii

Craigslist Hawaii is especially popular, as is the Craigslist section covering the area of Hawaii. There are a few major categories to choose from, including personals, community, housing, for sale, discussion forums, and jobs. As an example of how comprehensive the site is, the jobs section of Craigslist Hawaii, for example, covers almost any job you can imagine.  A few of the sections listed are accounting and finance, human resources, administrative, office, business / management, general labor, nonprofit, retail, wholesale, security, technical support, systems and networks, tv/film/video and web/info design. There are many others – that was just a sample!

The community listings are valuable too – they offer listings of activities, gigs, childcare, special interest groups, local performers, events, and things such as garage sales, or people looking for house swaps.

At any given time there are usually at least a few hundred different job offers in each category, and the site is constantly being updated and renewed. One of the best features of Craigslist Hawaii or any other Craigslist section for that matter is its simplicity. There are no bright, attention grabbing graphics or annoying advertisements, but simply a listing of the items that you are interested in and contact information for the listing provider.

Craigslist is easy to use, and very convenient – you can browse listings from the comfort of your own home, instead of having to look at notice boards in shop windows for the things you need.  You can search for just the stuff that interests you, and, should you ever want to sell, you can reach a huge audience of people who are looking for exactly what you have to offer.

Make sure you are careful when using Craigslist – if a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.  If a seller is placing unusual conditions on the offer, then that should raise red flags.  Don't go and meet someone you have only spoken to on Craigslist without either taking a friend with you, or arranging to meet up in a public place.  This may seem paranoid, but just as Craigslist is great for buyers and sellers, it is an easy target for unsavory types too.

There must be a massive difference in Craigslist communities! The ones I check out tend to be full of spammers, or very hostile to people who aren't in their 'clique'.

If I ever get the chance to visit Hawaii I'll make a point of visiting the Hawaiian craigslist sections to find out about stuff that may be happening while I'm there. It sounds like it will be a welcoming, and refreshing change!
