Have An Adventure Flying To Hawaii
Even though a flight is much quicker than a boat, they can still take quite a long time – a flight to Hawaii from Chicago, as an example, can take between 11 and 14 hours.
Many times a flight to Hawaii will provide the traveler with sights from the sky they may not expect to experience. Most aircrafts do not fly a straight route, following the equator as due to the roundness of the Earth, this would actually take longer, involving many more miles than necessary to complete the flight to Hawaii. Generally, planes will take a more northerly route, often passing over parts of the Artic region, depending on the origin of the flight.
A landing at Hawaii International Airport is an interesting experience – especially the first time around. As the plane descends, you can see the ocean coming towards you, and may believe that you are about to miss the runway and splash down instead!
Staying Entertained On Long Flight
With flights being so long, many people choose to try to sleep on them – staying up late the night before in the hopes they will be so tired they doze through the journey. Others read a book or magazine on the flight to try to pass the time. If the prospect of sleeping or reading seems too boring for you, try to find a flight that offers good in-flight entertainment, or take a portable DVD player to pass the time.
There is little between Hawaii and the west coast of the USA except water, so in the event of an emergency pilots have only two choices – turn back, if it is early enough in the journey, or try to make it to the islands. Thankfully, emergencies are rare.
Hawaii is a spectacularly beautiful island, and you should not let any fear of flying prevent you from visiting. Don't be deterred by the traveling time either – Hawaii is a wonderful place and you can spend your time on the plane looking forward to your adventures while you are there.
