Discover The Wonderful Island of Ireland

Ireland is often referred to as the Emerald Isle – it has some spectacular scenery, friendly people, and an enchanting history. Ireland is a small place, and you can see a wide range of sights in just a few days.  If you want to know more about the country, you can visit web sites devoted to the country, or contact the Irish tourist board.

Ireland travel tips often recommend excursions to see some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.   County Kerry, for example has a number of locations that were used as the background in many different movies because  the countryside in the area is spectacular.  There are charming villages nestled near the cliffs that reach down to the sea.  The Ring of Kerry is more than one hundred miles of breathtaking sights including the Iveragh Peninsula and an island known as Skellig Michael.

Shopping and Dining In Ireland

Ireland features more than just nice countryside.  There are some great places to shop and dine too.  Ireland has some wonderful traditional crafts, including textiles and crystals.  There are lots of handmade woolen goods available, and you can get some wonderful crystal souvenirs which would really add to any table setting.

When it comes to food and drink, the Irish certainly know what they are doing.  Traditional Irish pubs can be found all over the place, and offer hearty meals and cool drinks at a nice price.  Some of the meals may be unfamiliar to you, but you should enjoy them.  If you have ever visited an 'Irish pub' in another country, then be ready for a treat – the authentic experience is so much better.

Ireland is a great place for a holiday, I have never been to the North but I have been to the south a few times. I loved Dublin its a great city with really friendly people and there is lot to see and do (and drink) - I must admit I put on 7lbs in a week so it is a very dangerous place as well LOL.

Limmerick is a heck of a place as well on a friday night!

My suggestion for people coming from the states would be to fly to London - explore the UK for a little, then take a Ryanair flight to Ireland - sure, the flights aren't luxurious, but they're cheap, and it's a really short flight so you don't need it to be fancy.

Ireland is a great place, and I think you'll really enjoy it there, but you may as well see two countries for the price of one :)
