Maui Travel Tips: Getting Around

Maui is a beautiful Hawaiian island – it has more beaches than the main island, and some of the most spectacular views.  It is often referred to as the Magic Isle because of the atmosphere, which draws visitors back year after year.  This article aims to offer you some tips that will help you get the most out of your visit to the island.

The first thing to consider is the timing of your visit – the peak time for Maui is during the time of year that is coldest in Mainland USA.  The weather in Maui is pretty much the same all year round, except for it getting windier during the winter, so people tend to flock to Maui to escape the cold weather in their home states.

When you visit Hawaii, if you want to avoid the crowds, take a drive down the scenic Route 36 – Hana Highway.  Hana is a small, remote town, and it tends to be quieter and less crowded than some of the more central resorts.  It is a great place for people who want to take in some more traditional Hawaiian culture to visit.

The next Maui travel tip is take care not to shop too much in Maui because you might be overloaded on the way home! Maui offers some of the most exciting shopping options in the Hawaiian Islands. You just might have a hard time choosing which souvenirs to bring home and what to give to your fiends and relatives from Maui.

The next of many Maui travel tips is to snorkel and dive in the south side of the island. The waters are calmer and ore tranquil here compared to any other part of the island. There are also many diving outfits that can cater to your needs although, it is best to choose the companies that are already well known and have trained professionals to accompany you out to sea.

If surfing is your thing, you should head to the north Shore where the waves are very exciting during the winter months.  Beginner surfers can head South where the waves are calmer, but still make for good surfing.

If you want to enjoy a Luau, be sure to inform the hotel when you book – especially if you are traveling as part of a big group.  Luaus are a special form of Hawaiian part that involves feasting on traditional foods and local fruits.

Before you head to Maui do a little research on the internet, and try to plan a few excursions and make a list of sights you want to see – the island has a lot to offer, so you should have a wonderful and action packed holiday.
