Making The Most Of A California Ski Vacation
Should You Head North Or South?
There are ski resorts in both Northern and Southern California – which way you head depends on what you want from your resort besides skiing.
Tahoe is located in Northern California – it is quite remote compared to some of the more well known urban areas of California, and is almost considered a destination in its own right. As well as skiing, you can enjoy gambling in nearby Reno, and a wide variety of bars and studios with great food and exciting nightlife. Tahoe has some family friendly activities too, making it a well rounded destination.
The ski resorts of Southern California offer fantastic slopes and adventure for all ages. One of the advantages of a southern California ski vacation is the proximity of the southern California ski resorts to other exciting attractions. Within just a few hours of driving you can find yourself at the beach or enjoy a day at the world famous amusement park, Disneyland. Imagine waking up and spending the morning on the slopes and then driving a few hours to spend the evening eating at an ocean front seafood restaurant. Many families book southern California ski vacations so that they can participate in the many diverse activities the state has to offer.
Skiing In California Can Be Inexpensive
California ski vacations do not have to be expensive. If you pick an off-peak time of year to visit, and book well in advance you can get some good package deals. You don't even have to worry about the weather, as the resorts will make their own snow if the weather is not suitable. You can even visit just for an afternoon to get in a little time on the slopes while they are quiet, without having to pay out for a full day pass.
