Finding Discount Ski Vacations

The great outdoors is something that can be enjoyed at any time of the year – summer surf, autumn hiking, and winter skiing.  Ski vacations are a great way to get out and have fun during the winter months, and they don't have to be expensive either.

Where To Find a Discount Ski Vacation

If you travel frequently, your existing travel agent is a good place to start – they will be able to recommend good ski resorts, and offer you discounts that may not be as readily available elsewhere.  If you aren't a frequent traveler, then maybe you can ask for recommendations from friends, or look online for companies that specialize in winter vacations.

Many resorts that cater to skiers have their own travel agencies set up to help put together packages that will include discount ski vacations.  It may be a good idea to gather information about particular locations from the states themselves, or countries.  Many states that have big ski areas advertise to bring attention to the ski slopes, and have visitors information put together.  These brochures can be acquired by requesting a copy, and most states have web-sites to get the information from.

You don't have to ski in the USA either – you could combine your ski holiday with a trip abroad, to Canada, Europe, or even New Zealand – there are lots of places that have ski resorts, so you can see the world and get your winter sports fix at the same time.

You could book your own ski vacation instead of using a package deal – this takes a little more planning and arranging, but means that you can tweak the vacation so that it suits your own tastes and budget – spending more where you want to, and saving on areas that are not so important to you.

More Than Just Skiing

Winter ski vacations often include more than just skiing – many ski resorts also offer snowmobile or sled tours, ice skating, and winter camping.

Your travel agent will be able to recommend interesting resorts, and if you want to do more than just ski they will be able to help you find other fun activities in the area.  Even if you are a beginner skier you can still have fun on a ski holiday – some of the resorts offer special sessions for beginners, and you can sample everything from skiing to snowboarding and sledding.
