Ski Vacations in New Mexico
Staying Safe
If you have never been skiing before, don't hesitate to ask for lessons when you get there. Most resorts run classes for beginner skiers, and have gentle slopes to help people get started. Take advantage of the lessons to learn how to ski safely – you'll be glad you did, and it will help you learn how to handle yourself on the bigger slopes and avoid injury.
Packing For A Ski Holiday
Make sure you pack lots of warm clothing – layers of clothing usually work well, and take plenty of food and water too – enough to last a couple of days in case you get stranded or caught out by extreme weather. Things such as granola bars, that keep well, are a good idea. If you have an infant with you keep some spare diapers and formula on hand too. Hopefully you won't need it, but in the past couple of years there have been lots of motorists caught out by sudden weather changes and left stranded until help arrived.
Take a cell phone and spare batteries with you as well, and keep a spare can of gas just in case you run out of fuel. You can buy emergency kits that contain everything you need for a motoring emergency – including first aid kits and puncture repair, etc – buy one, and make sure that if you ever use anything from it, you replace it straight away.
If you follow these tips your New Mexico ski vacation should be one to remember, for all the right reasons!
