MUST SEE Spots On Your London Vacation

Few would disagree that a vacation to London would be a trip of a lifetime.  You could spend 2 weeks or more in London and still not see it all.  There is just so much to see and do in London it would take several months to "really" see London.  But since your time there will most likely  be limited to a few weeks, here is a quick overview of the places you must see in order to make your London vacation complete.

Visit The Best Museums in London

As part of your London vacation, you should plan on spending some time at one of the world renowned museums. The British Museum is the oldest museum in the world, and contains treasures from all around the world. The British Museum is where you can see the Rosetta Stone, Mildenhall Treasure, Elgin Marbles, and Ramses II.

Another great spot worth visiting is the National Gallery and Portrait Gallery.  These art galleries are home to England’s most important art collections. Some of the finest and most famous paintings in the world are in these two galleries. If you are not interested in art, a stop at the Natural History Museum is a good choice for your London vacation. Its enormous collection of natural science can be a trip in itself.

Get A Small Taste of British History

Visiting the historic sites of London is an absolute must.  No vacation to London could ever be complete without a visit to some of the historic sites in this city.  Head over to the Tower of London first.  This is home to the Crown Jewels. Next, visit Westminster Abbey and Parliament Square. The royal abbey is where all of Britain’s kings and queens have been crowned since 1066.

Finally, one essential piece of British history involves Buckingham Palace.  Your  vacation to London simply would be incomplete without a trip to Buckingham Palace. Home to the Queen of England, Buckingham Palace’s famous guards are an attraction in themselves. The changing of the guard happens daily, and is should not  be missed.

There Are Many Other London Vacation Spots

While you are on your London vacation, there are other things to see and do. One is a trip to St. Paul’s Cathedral. The cathedral, which is home to Sir Christopher Wren’s Baroque masterpiece, is a fixture on the London skyline and has hosted many ceremonial events.

But London is not only about museums, palaces and cathedrals.  If you want a different view of the city, don’t miss a trip to London Eye.  This is the largest Ferris Wheel ever built.  Originally built as an observation wheel, the London Eye offers the best views of the city around.

Finally, if you are going to be in London,  you should also take a walk along the Thames, enjoy afternoon tea, and spend an evening at the theater. And if you’re traveling with children, a trip to the London Zoo is a great way to spend the afternoon.  There is no better treat for the kids.

Regardless of what you do during your London vacation, be sure to enjoy every moment of your time in this world renowned cultural melting pot in Europe.  Don’t forget to take many pictures, to share the sights and sounds with families and friends when you get back home!  Happy travels.
