Have a Great Time In Greece With These Greece Travel Tips
While most of the island inhabitants are wonderful people and very accommodating, there are always a few people who see tourists as a chance to make a dishonest buck. By following a Greece travel tip or two, you can keep your eyes open not only to the beauty of the country but also to the con men as well.
Booking Your Trip
When planning your travel to Greece, don't be tempted to save money by booking your entire journey on your own – especially if you have never been there before. You will have a much safer, and more enjoyable journey if you use a travel agency that specializes in Greek holidays. You will also be much better off if a part of the trip – for example a ferry crossing, were to get canceled – as you will be able to call the travel agent and ask them to re-schedule you, while you just relax and enjoy the place you are in.
Staying On The Island
Perhaps the most important Greece travel tip is that you should not try and pack twenty different things to do in your one or two week vacation because it is almost impossible! When you plan your trip, list a few places that are an absolute must and inform your travel agent those are non-negotiable. For the rest, follow this next Greece travel tip: go with the flow and give yourself a day or two to just wander around experiencing the very essence of Greece. Those out of the way places not on your tourist agenda are often the highlights of your trip.
Public transport in Greece is quite good, and you can save a lot of money if you travel like a local instead of using a taxi cab to get everywhere. Use the ferry to visit other islands, and ask your hotel concierge for a time table for the ferry and any local transport, so that you can more easily plan your day. Many operators do not run a web site, so make sure that you have a time table to hand, as you won't be able to look it up easily using your mobile phone the way you could if you were still at home!
More Greece Travel Tips
One other important Greece travel tip is that you should try to pay in cash as often as possible – there is often a surcharge for using a credit card. Don't carry huge amounts of cash around with you, however. There are lots of ATMs around the island, so you can always withdraw more when you need it, and carrying large amounts of cash is rarely a good idea.
If you follow the Greece travel tips above, then you will have a great time on your holiday. Greece is a wonderful place, with beautiful views, a rich culture, and lovely weather. It also has some powerful liquor, so one last tip – beware of Ouzo – it tastes innocent, but the effects sneak up on you quickly!

We love Greece and have gone many times. The one thing we find is a necessity more than any other country though, is Mosquito repellent. Also there is a little gadget that is sold in many chemists that you can apply to your bites (if you´re unfortunate to be bitten), you click the gadget on your bite and it takes the itchyness away. It´s been a great relief to us and definately wouldn´t go to Greece without it!

Greece is such a beautiful country with a lot of history attached to each and every place in the country. I have read a lot about Greece and would like to visit the country. I was impressed and influenced to a great extent by the Greek history. This is the place that has given birth to great souls like Alexander, Aristotle, Socretes, Archimedes, and the list continues.
