Georgia Tourism: Spectacular Southern Beauty

If you want to explore the southern part of the United States, then Georgia is a great place to start, it is a fine example of the beauty of the south, and has lots of things for tourists to do.  If you decide to visit Georgia, try to fly in to Atlanta, and spend some time there before moving on to Savannah or the Golden Isles.  Also, remember to take some time out of your vacation to visit the amazing Callaway Gardens.

Atlanta Sightseeing Tips

It is worth renting a car if you decide to go sightseeing in Atlanta – the sights are quite spread out, and it is much easier to get around if you have your own transport.

If you are visiting Atlanta with your family, then you may want to spend some time at the Atlanta Zoo, or at Six Flags Over Georgia Park.  Some other good family attractions include The World of Coca Cola, and the Georgia Aquarium.  If you want to make the most of your time in Georgia, taking a guided tour is a  good idea, as there are lots of attractions to see, and it can be difficult to work out an effective route if you are short on time.

After you have completed a tour of Atlanta take some time to visit the Callaway Gardens which are located about 70 miles outside of Atlanta. You and your family should take some time to enjoy the beautiful gardens as well as taking a hike on the scenic trails. Take part of the day to enjoy the popular Georgia tourism destination of Warm Springs which is located about seventeen miles outside of the Callaway Gardens. FDR's Little White House is located on the property and tours are available. You and your family might also enjoy taking a tour of the FDR Memorial Museum.

Another good place to visit is Macon Georgia, home of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, and the Hay House.  If you are heading to Savannah, then you may want to stop off along the way to visit Andalusia, also known as Flannery O'Conners Farm, in Milledgeville.

Golf enthusiasts may enjoy a stop off in Augusta to see the famous golf course where the Masters golf tournament is held each year.

Savannah Sightseeing Tips

When you arrive in Savannah, a great place to start your exploration is the Historic District.  You could start your trip off with an Old Town Trolley Tour, then head on to see Mercer House, the Telfair Mansion and the Art Museum.

There are lots of things to see on the Savannah riverfront too, and taking a Savannah Riverboat cruise is a great way to see the sights on the river, before hading to one of the many restaurants on the riverfront for an evening meal.  The whole family will enjoy the Thomas and Davenport museums, and there are lots of other wonderful Georgia tourism destinations to be found in the nearby area.
